Set of 2 Mercury Silver Candlesticks, probably 19th-century. Featuring a glass floral decoration. Mercury silver, also known as ‘poor man’s silver’, was popular because it gave the appearance of silver without the high cost of real silver. Height: 27 cm. Weathering has occurred over time and through use: a natural patina forms as candle wax mixes with the silver on the inside. This is entirely natural and adds to the charm of the candlesticks.
